The film premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the NETPAC Award for World or International Asian Film Premiere.[2] It was selected as the Lebanese entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.[3][4]
Plot
Set against the beginning of the 1982 Lebanon War, the film stars Nadine Labaki as Yesmeene, a schoolteacher in Beirut, and Mohamad Dalli as Wissam, a young boy in her class who is trying to find the courage to tell his classmate Joanna (Gia Madi) that he has a crush on her.[5]
