For the second time in conference history, the entire conference will not participate in the tournament and the first time since the conference became a 10 team conference. Oklahoma State will not participate due to their postseason ban.[2] The only other time this happened was in 2004, when Baylor missed the tournament due to a self-imposed postseason ban as a result of scandal within its program.

The top seven teams earn a first round bye.

Teams will be seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records.[3]
