2021-22 Off-season Changes
Retirements and delistings
Three retirees were announced in the days following St Kilda's final game of 2021, while Dylan Roberton had announced his retirement in January. While the Saints' lost 612 games of experience, combined the retirees only managed 10 games in 2021.

Trade Period
North Melbourne ruckman Tristan Xerri nominated St Kilda during the 2021 Trade Period, however the Saints and Kangaroos could not agree to an equitable trade.[9] The Saints' only deal of the trade period was a four-club pick swap, which is outlined below.[10]

Delisted Free Agency Period
Former Kangaroos and Western Bulldogs ruckan Tom Campbell joined the Saints as a delisted free agent on 5 November 2021.[11]
2021 AFL Draft
At the conclusion of the Trade Period, the St Kilda held selections 9, 62, 66, 67 and 85. St Kilda received pick 55 from Collingwood in return for a future fourth-round pick in a swap on 12 November.[12] On 24 November at the AFL Draft, the Saints selected wingman Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera with pick 11.[13] The Saints' matched Sydney's bid for Mitchito Owens, ultimately taking him at pick 33.[14] The Saints also drafted Marcus Windhager (pic 47 - matching a bid by Geelong) and Oscar Adams (who was selected with pick 51 after trading a futre fourth-round pick). The Saints chose to pass on their selections 57 and 58.
2021 AFL Rookie Draft
On the 26th of November the Saints acquired Next Generation Academy players Jack Peris and Josiah Kyle as Category B Rookies.[15]
