Premise

Mary Hussain suddenly finds herself a widow following the unexpected death of her husband. A day after the burial, she discovers he has a secret family.[1]

The film had its premiere at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival during the Industry Selects program, a film market program for films seeking commercial distribution.[2] Throughout 2020, After Love was screened at BFI London Film Festival,[3] Rome Film Festival,[4] and Tokyo International Film Festival.[5] The film was theatrically released in the United Kingdom on 4 June 2021.[6]

Critical reception

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 96% based on 24 reviews, with an average rating of 7.9/10.[7] On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 83 out of 100, based on 5 critics, indicating "universal acclaim".[8]
