Alaiasa Sepulona Moananu

Alaiasa Moefa'auouo Tapuai Sepulona Moananu (born ~1961)[1] is a Samoan politician. He is a member of the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP).

Sepulona Moananu parents are Salale Moananu Salale and Eseta Moananu. He is an accountant, a business owner, a farmer, and comes from a family of politicians and leaders. Born and raised in the village of Falefa in Anoamaa District. He has a few matai tiles bestowed onto him, one from Sagone in Savaii island tile "Tapuai", his "Moefa'auouo" title from the village of Lufilufi and his "Alai'asa" tile is from his parent's village, Falefa.

His father, late Salale Moananu was elected as MP for Anoama'a in the 1991 election, defeating former Prime Minister Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi. He has 7 siblings (Siaosi, Sinatala, Pola Salale, Makerita Litia, OkeseneLupe, Tapa, and Saulaulu Utulei), a father of 7 children (Lapi, Grace, Esther, Timothy Salale, Faith, Christian, and Lydia) and husband to Fugalelea Moananu.[1]

He was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Samoa in the seat of Salega (in Savaii) in the 2006 election under the title of Tapuai.[1][2] He lost his seat at the 2011 election, but was re-elected for Anoamaa No. 1 (island of Upolu) in the 2016 election and appointed Government Whip[1] and Associate Minister of Education, Sports and Culture (MESC).[3] In January 2017 during a debate over a constitutional amendment to declare Samoa a Christian nation Moananu urged Samoa to back the state of Israel.[4] In 2021 he won Anoama'a No 1 election and still representing HRPP. His leadership role for Human Right Protection Party (HRPP) showed in the last election, he became the speaker of the House for HRPP and try to fight over a draw between HRPP and The Faatuatua i le Atua Party. Unfortunately they lost this election after a fight at the Court House, FAST party took over Year 2021. Besides their defeat he still vocal about how the Samoa should become as one and not let political issues divide his country.

He was re-elected in the 2021 election.[5][6]
