Alex Donahue

Alex Donahue is an American designer, architect and lecturer, most noted for product design.[1] His work, titled "Pride Watch" was awarded the gold medal at the 2020 International Design Awards[2] in addition, the design won the acclaimed 2020 Good Design Award (Chicago Athenaeum).[3] Donahue has also won the Italian based A' Design award[4] and longlisted in the wearable design category of Dezeen Awards 2021.[5]

Career

Donahue began his career working in New York City at SITE as a protégé of noted artist James Wines and collaborated with Wines on the Terra Time Watch series among other design and architectural works. Donahue went on to practice at several internationally renowned architecture firms, including: I.M. Pei, Skidmore Owings and Merrill, and the firm founded by Michael Graves. He holds a professional Bachelor of Architecture, post-professional Master of Architecture from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Real Estate from Georgetown University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning and Design at the University of Maryland, College Park where he also lectures. Donahue contributed to the Daily Collegian as an editorial cartoonist,[6] he also created public artwork in State College, PA during his time there.[7][8]

Lecturing

Donahue currently lectures at George Washington University in the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design.[9] and The University of Maryland[10] He was awarded the 2020 Outstanding Teaching Award.[11] Donahue serves on the Alumni Board of Directors for the Penn State College of Arts and Architecture.[12]
