Alex Thompson (director)

Alex Thompson is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer.[1] He is best known for his work on the film Saint Frances.[2]

Life and career

Thompson was born in Kentucky. He graduated from DePauw University in 2012 and DePaul University in 2015.[3][4] He wrote, directed and produced the short film, Calumet, starring Austin Pendleton, won the Grand Jury Prize at the Rome Film Festival in 2014.[5] In 2015, his short film, Irene & Marie, starring Olympia Dukakis, Rose Gregorio and Anita Gillette.[6]

Thompson's debut feature film, Saint Frances, starring Kelly O'Sullivan, premiered at South by Southwest in 2019.[7][8] His upcoming feature film, Rounding, starring Sidney Flanigan, wrapped production in March 2021.[9]

Personal life

Thompson is in a relationship with filmmaker and actress Kelly O'Sullivan.[10][7]
