Ame-no-ukihashi

Ame-no-ukihashi (天浮橋,[1] 天の浮橋)[2] is the floating bridge of heaven that connects the heaven and the earth in Japanese mythology.[3] It is mentioned in both the Kojiki and the Nikon Shoki.[4]

It was the bridge where Izanami and Izanagi created the world.[5] According to the Tango fudoki the bridge fell down to earth with the jutting area west of Kyoto is said to be the remains of the bridge. Sarutahiko is the guardian of the bridge.[3]
