Auguste Gérôme

Auguste Clément Gérôme was a French general of the First World War who was notable for who was notable for participating in the Macedonian Front.

Biography

Gérôme was born on March 2, 1857 in Badonviller, at the time in Meurthe.[1] He was the son of Clément Gérôme, non-commissioned officer and Marguerite Guillemette.[1] On December 26, 1881, he married Élisabeth Léonie Léonard originally from Nancy. He enlisted in March 14, 1869 and then as a soldier in the 60th Infantry Division. He attended the École spéciale militaire de Saint-Cyr on October 23, 1875 until October 1, 1877 to be then assigned to the 69th Infantry Division as a second lieutenant. He attended the War College from November 1884 to November 1886 and released on the 28th with the patent of Staff and was sent to Algeria to work on cards from January 12, 1887 to June 24, 1887. He served on the frontlines of the French Army of the East and commanded the 122th infantry division.[2][3][4] Gérôme died on May 10, 1919 in Marseille, from war wounds.[5]
