Aykhan Mamayev

Aykhan Mamayev (December 3, 1991) – Azerbaijani karateka. Champion of Azerbaijan, European and World champion[4] among youth,[5] gold medalist of the European Games,[6][7] gold medalist of the III and IV Islamic Solidarity Games.[8]

Early life

Aykhan Mamaev Pashali oghlu ,was born in Azerbaijan in Baku on the 3 rd of December 1991. There are 4 of us in the family. Father, mother, elder brother and me. Aykhan studied at school No. 271, Bakikhanov village 1998–2009. Entered the Baku State University (BSU) Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics. (2009–2013). From (2016–2017), he served in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces .

Career

Aykhan first started karate at the age of 7. Six months later,Aykhan won the first medal (bronze). For the first time in 2008,[9] at the age of 17, became the champion of Azerbaijan. In 2011 in Malaysia (Malacca) at the age of 19 –78 kg. became the world champion among youth.[10] In Baku 2012 (20 years) -78 kg. became the European champion among youth and moved to adults. In 2012 won a silver medal in Europe at the first competition among adults in the 84 kg weight category in Spain (Tenerife). In 2012 Aykhan won a bronze medal at the World Championships in France (Paris). In the same year, became one of the 10 athletes of the year. In 2013, won a gold medal at the III Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang, Indonesia. In 2014, Aykhan underwent surgery on the left knee. In a year took part in the first European Games 2015 under the flag of Azerbaijan and defeated Goegios Tsanos(−84 kg) from Greece 1: 1 in the final match and won the gold medal of the first European Games.[11] Aykhan was awarded the Order of Glory by the order of President Ilham Aliyev.

In 2017 took part in the IV Islamic Solidarity Games under the flag of Azerbaijan.Aykhan defeated Alparslan Yamanoglu (−84 kg) from Turkey 1: 0 in the final and won the gold medal of the IV Islamic Solidarity Games.[12]
