Look 1st was originally part of Barrio Lugam as its Sitio Looc (end of Lugam). In 1870 Looc gained its independence as a separate barrio, then under the Spanish name Looc Primero.

Background

Looc traces is beginning to when it was part of a massive land under Lugam founded in 1805, which was part of the much older Piñacbacahan under the auspices of the Augustinian Order.

Early history

In 1754, the Spanish Government awarded an estate to the Salinas clan from Spain, which became the Marquis, or "landlord", of the estate. The estate was divided into four parts, namely Piñahan (pine plantation), Abacahan (Manila hemp plantation), Cabiaoan (Sugar plantation), and Barijan (Manila grass plantation). In 1834 the Spanish Crown transferred the administration of the estate to the Augustinian Order and renamed it the Dampol Estate, which the priestly order made into a "camp" near Quingua River, later transformed into a "village chapel" commonly called "visita de San Miguel".
