The Battle of Chandawar (1193 or 1194) was fought between Muhammad of Ghor and Jaichand of Kannauj of the Gahadavala dynasty.[2] It took place at Chandawar (modern Chandawal near Ferozabad[3]), on the Yamuna River close to Agra. , giving Muhammad control of much of northern India.[4] The battle was hotly contested, until Jaichand was killed and his army routed.[1]
