Baurzhan Ospanov

Baurzhan Kenesbekuly Ospanov (Kazakh: Baýyrjan Keńesbekuly Ospanov; born 12 March 1968) is a Kazakh entrepreneur and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Zhersu corporation.[1]

In 2020, he was ranked the 42th place out of 50 influential businessmen in Kazakhstan by Forbes Kazakhstan annual ranking of "The top 50 most influential businessmen in Kazakhstan"[2] and in 2015 he took the 32nd place in Forbes Kazakhstan ranking of "The 50 richest people in Kazakhstan".[3]

Biography

Baurzhan Ospanov was born on 12 March 1968 in Zhylandy village, Almaty region.

He worked as a deputy commercial director of TEKHNOPROM (1992-1995), vice president of JSC Nazar (1995-1997), deputy director of AEK Engineering (1997-2001), chairman of the board of directors of TSC Group Corporation (2001-2008). Since 2008, he is the chairman of the supervisory board of Zhersu.

Social activity

Baurzhan Ospanov is the vice-president of the Boxing and Wrestling Federation of Kazakhstan. Ospanov financed a Kazakh boxer Kanat Islam who was a Chinese amateur boxer of Kazakh ancestry.[4][5][6]

In 2006, Baurzhan Ospanov started an annual literature prize "Daraboz" for the best works of children's literature.[7]

Public life

Baurzhan Ospanov serves as the Vice President of Kazakhstan Boxing Federation[8] and Wrestling Federation of Kazakhstan.[9]

Ospanov is married and has six children.
