Better.com

Better.com is an online mortgage originator company headed by chief executive officer Vishal Garg.[1][2] The company is backed by Softbank and Novator, and in 2020, secured a US$4 billion valuation.[3]

The company has gained high profile coverage for its quick rise and is planning to go public via a SPAC merger before the end of 2021. The deal would value the company at around $6.9 billion[4][5]

On December 6, 2021, a video of Garg laying off 900 employees by videoconference and locking out their devices became widely disseminated.[6] The company is headquartered at 3 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan.[7]

After much criticism, Garg decided to take time off from the company.[8]
