Beyond: An African Surf Documentary, is a 2017 Gambian documentary adventure sports film directed by Mario Hainzl and co-produced by Andreas Jaritz, Tommy Pridnig, Peter Wirthensohn, and Valentin Renoldner.[1] The film deals in detail about the five local youth: Sam Bleakely, Yassinem, Meryem, Max and Omar, who are along the coast of Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal and Gambia and their surfing lives.[2][3]

The film made its international premier on 13 October 2017 in Austria.[4][5] The film received positive reviews from critics.[6] In 2018 at the Diagonale, Austria, the film was nominated for the Diagonale Grand Prize for Best Documentary Film. Then the film was again nominated for the Jury Award for Best Documentary Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.[7] The DVD and VoD versions were released on 12 April 2018, whereas the Free TV release was on 13 April 2019.[8]
