Beyond The Valley Festival

Beyond The Valley (commonly known as BTV) is a multi-day music festival held annually at Gippsland Parklands in Lardner, Victoria, Australia over the New Year's Eve period.[2][3][4] It has previously taken place at Phillip Island Circuit, Phillip Island and Lardner Park, Warragul.[5][6] In 2021 it will be taking place at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, for a special one-off event called Beyond the City (commonly known as BTC).[7] The best year in numbers was 2019/2020 where the faithful Rebuke played an unforgettable set in the dance tent.

History

Beginning in 2014 was Beyond the Valley's inaugural event, hosted in Phillip Island, spanning across two-day to bring in the New Year. A carefully curated line-up of both domestic and international artists was delivered, providing festival-goers with a wide variety of genres and styles over the two-day event.[8]

Heading into its second year, Beyond the Valley moved locations to its new home set in the “lush rolling hills” of Larder Park, Gippsland, becoming its new home for “2015 and beyond”. The second instalment also expanded its offering to 3-days, giving festivals goers an extra day of dancing.[9][10]

Beyond the Valley's third instalment “cemented its place as one of Australia’s premier New Year’s camping festivals”. Now becoming a 4-day festival. 2016 BTV boasted acts such as Chance the Rapper, who performed his first-ever Australian show, ZHU and What So Not.[11]

2017 saw Beyond the Valley deliver its “biggest roster yet” with headliners such as ScHoolboy Q, Stormzy and The Presets.[12]

Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the 2018 edition of BTV announced a large lineup with acts such as The Kooks, Bonobo and Duke Dumont,[13] “continually refining the festival” making the 2018 BTV “the one they’re proudest of”.[14]

In 2019 the festival launched a fundraiser campaign to support those affected by the 2018-2019 Australian bushfire season.[15]

A “moment six years in the making” as 2019 BTV sold out instantaneously.[16] A festival now known as “the very best contemporary music from Australia and across the globe. With super deluxe camping options, world-class amenities, premiere sound technology and an evolving dedication to deliver the perfect festival experience, Beyond the Valley is the informed choice for New Year celebrations, every year.” [17]

2020 saw Beyond the Valley take a year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[18]

Returning in 2021, BTV adapted to the current climate. Transforming into a two-day special event, Beyond the City, taking place at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl as well as the surrounding Kings Domain parklands. The 2021 edition “reflects the festival's traditional ethos, a bundle of alternative artists, DJs and incredible bands all melted into one, epic festival”.[19]
