Hinoe uma

Hinoe uma (Japanese) or bing wu (Chinese; both written 丙午, meaning "fire horse" in Chinese) is the 43rd combination of the sexagenary cycle. Due to a superstition that girls born in such a year will grow up to kill their husbands,[1] birthrates in Japan tend to see a sharp decline.[2]

Japanese birth and death rates since 1950. The drop in 1966 was due to it being a "hinoe uma" year.[1]
