It was between Tamworth and Burton upon Trent on the line originally built by the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway.[2]
With the arrival of local bus services, it closed in 1930.
It should not be confused with Branston railway station (Lincolnshire) - a former station close to Lincoln.
