Buxwaha Forest

Buxwaha Forest is a hilly forest area, spread over 384 hectare in Buxwaha protected forest located near sagoria village,Buxwaha tehsil, Chhatarpur district, Madhya pradesh.7000 villagers 17 tribes lives here.This is a dense forest area and ideal for wild animals.[1][2]

This dense forest have mountains, rivers and Known for its rich in mineral deposits and different types of medicine plants.

Diamond Mining

In 2006, An Australian mining company Rio Tinto Exploration India Private Limited permitted by the Madhya Pradesh government for diamond mining in Buxwaha protected forest Buxwaha tehsil, Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh. The project faced resistance by locals of Kasera village due to ecological issues and the company has left the ground.[3][4]

In 2019, Aditya Birla Group's Essel Mining won the bid for diamond mining.[5] In 2020, company get environment clearance for mining.[6]

History

the Archaeological Survey of India found 25,000 to 30,000 years old stone painting in the forest area and report claims the paintings drawed in red colour before the fire invented.[7]
