Catwoman's Whip

Catwoman's Whip is a steel family-style roller coaster located at Six Flags New England. The track has a double figure eight layout with theming consistent with the DC Comics antiheroine Catwoman.

Not to be confused with Catwoman's Whip at Six Flags New Orleans.

History

The ride was originally called Poison Ivy's Tangled Train; however, for unknown reasons, it was rethemed to Catwoman in 2007. The statue of Catwoman in the ride's queue was originally located at Six Flags New Orleans in the DC Comics Super Hero Adventures section of the park on a completely different ride also named Catwoman's Whip, a Mondial Shake. However, Six Flags New Orleans was flooded and severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina, with Six Flags declaring the park a "total loss", salvaging whatever they could before abandoning the park. The Catwoman statue was apparently deemed salvageable by Six Flags, and was relocated to Six Flags New England. This is the most likely reason for the ride's retheme from Poison Ivy to Catwoman.

There had been confusion over the coaster's actual name due to conflicting information from different sources. The park's website and map information usually named it Poison Ivy’s Twisted Train, but the sign on the roller coaster itself used the Tangled Train designation. The Six Flags website had apparently corrected this for 2006 and used the Tangled Train name until the name was changed to Catwoman's Whip in 2007.
