Airport extension

Due to the limited expansion options available and restrictions enforced by the Airports Authority of India, the current terminal is not be able to cope with the large air traffic demands coming into Kanpur. An additional terminal of 6,000 sq metres is under construction on Kanpur Prayagraj National Highway.

The new terminal will consist of six hangars and a waiting room for 300 passenger and four-lane connectivity from the highway. It will be completed by September 2021. It will be a 4-star GRIHA (Green Buildings Rating System India) rated energy efficient building equipped with eight check-in counters.[8]

Flights to Varanasi, Jaipur, Pune, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Goa, Bengaluru and Chennai would cater the traffic from Kanpur.
