Charles E. Fleming
Charles Esque Fleming (born 1962)[1] is an American lawyer from Ohio who is a nominee to be a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

Education
Fleming received his Bachelor of Arts from Kent State University in 1986 and his Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University Law School in 1990.[2]
Legal career
From 1990 to 1991, he was an associate at Forbes, Forbes & Associates in Cleveland. Since 1991, Fleming has served as the assistant federal public defender in the office of the federal public defender for the Northern District of Ohio in Cleveland. In addition to being the assistant public defender, from 2010 to 2016 he was the investigative and the paralegal staff supervisor and the Cleveland trial team supervisor from 2016 to 2021.[2]
Nomination to district court
On September 30, 2021, President Joe Biden nominated Fleming to serve as a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. President Biden nominated Fleming to the seat vacated by Judge James S. Gwin, who took senior status on January 31, 2021.[3] If confirmed, Fleming would be the second active Black judge on the court.[4] His nomination is pending before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
