DND–KMP Expressway

DND–Faridabad–KMP Expressway is an under-construction 59 km long, 6/12-lane wide access-controlled expressway in Delhi NCR, India.[1] It will connect the junction of DND Flyway and Ring Road at Maharani Bagh in Delhi with the KMP Expressway at Khalilpur village near Sohna in Haryana. Now, it is a part of Delhi–Mumbai Expressway project.

Route

Delhi

The access-controlled expressway will start from the junction of DND Flyway and Ring Road (Sarai Kale Khan interchange) at Maharani Bagh in Delhi, and then move through Okhla, Jasola, Shaheen Bagh, Kalindi Kunj along the Agra Canal till Jaitpur-Pushta road (near Mithapur) in Delhi.

Haryana

From there it will connect with FaridabadBallabhgarh bypass road using Sehatpur Bridge in Faridabad; then cross over DelhiAgra (NH-2) at Kail Gaon village (Faridabad district), Western DFC at Paroli village (Palwal district) and PalwalSohna (NH-919) at Hajipur village (Gurgaon district) and finish at the cloverleaf interchange with the KMP Expressway at Khalilpur village in Nuh district of Haryana.[2]

Construction

The construction work of the 'DND–Faridabad–KMP' section was awarded by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to Ahmedabad-based Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon Private Limited (DRA Infracon).[3] This project will reduce congestion in Ashram-Badarpur-Faridabad-Ballabhgarh region. This Expressway will have 3-lane service roads on either side for about 29 km, 7.35 km of the elevated section with two-level crossings at 4 locations of the metro rail line, 18 new underpasses, and 9 interchanges with improved junctions.

The NHAI has divided the construction work of DND–Faridabad–KMP section of Delhi–Mumbai Expressway project into 3 packages and its construction cost is around 3,313 crores (excluding land acquisition and utility shifting cost).[4][5]

Delhi–Mumbai Expressway

The construction work of Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is divided by NHAI into 4 sections with a total of 52 tenders/ construction packages as given below. The entire 1,350 Km long expressway is expected to be completed by March 2023.

The NHAI has announced in August 2021, that an additional 30 km long spur will also be constructed from Noida International Airport in Jewar to Ballabgarh on this expressway.[6]

A 12 Km long, 4-lane national highway is also proposed by NHAI in Faridabad district. It will connect Chandawali village on DND–KMP Expressway with Maujpur village on Eastern Peripheral Expressway or KGP Expressway.[7]

Status updates

  • Mar 2019: Foundation stone laid by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on 1 March 2019 in Mithapur, Delhi.[8]
  • Dec 2019: NHAI invited bids for construction in 3 packages under Bharatmala Pariyojana.[9]
  • July 2020: Work awarded by NHAI to DRA Infracon Private Limited (Package-1 & Package-2).[5]
  • Aug 2020: Work awarded by NHAI to DRA Infracon Private Limited (Package-3).
  • Oct 2020: Soil testing work started in Faridabad district of Haryana[10]
  • Feb 2021: Construction work is expected to start this year: NHAI.[11]
  • May 2021: Construction work started in Package-3 on 14 May.
  • Aug 2021: Construction work started in Package-2 on 10 August.
  • Oct 2021: HSVP started demolishing illegal encroachments falling on the RoW in Faridabad.[12]
