Danielle Belton

Danielle Belton is the editor-in-chief of HuffPost. She joined The Root in 2015 and became its youngest managing editor before being appointed its first editor-in-chief. She left The Root in 2021 to become editor of HuffPost.[2][3][4][5]

Belton grew up in Black Jack and Florissant, Missouri.[6] She attended Hazelwood Central High School and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she received a Bachelor's degree in English and Journalism.[6] She started her journalism career with The Bakersfield Californian, a local newspaper in Bakersfield, California.[5][7] In 2007 she started the Black Snob, an award winning blog.[3] In 2011 she worked on developing a television show for BET called Don't Sleep, hosted by T. J. Holmes and became its head writer.[8][9] The show was cancelled after 8 months and nominated for a NAACP Image Award in 2013.[9][10] In 2015 she joined The Root and was appointed managing editor in 2016.[11]
