Dark Harvest (novel)

Dark Harvest is a 2007 novel by Norman Partridge. It is set in an unnamed Midwestern hamlet that each year sends its young men to confront the menace known as "Sawtooth Jack", a giant pumpkin-headed creature that arises from the corn each year; the one who succeeds wins the "October Prize", a year of bliss free from bills with a new car provided.[1] Publishers Weekly named it one of the 100 best books of the year.[2] New Regency optioned the film rights, with Matt Tolmach to produce but was sold to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in April of 2020 after New Regency dropped the film into turnaround, The film, which will star newcomers Casey Likes and E’myri Crutchfield in the lead roles, will be released on September 9, 2022 by United Artists Releasing, with a screenplay by Michael Gilio.[3][4]
