Digital Media Academy
Digital Media Academy (commonly referred to as "DMA") is a digital art and technology education company, located in Palo Alto, CA, and Vancouver, BC, primarily offering STEM summer camp and arts programs for students, age 9-18, at several universities in the US and Canada, including Stanford, Harvard, UCSD, Chicago, NYU, UBC, UoT, and more.[1] Digital Media Academy Certified Schools offers curriculum and teaching resources to K-12 schools globally to empower every educator to integrate technology into their classroom in a way that works for them.

Digital Media Academy began as the Academy for New Media at Stanford University in the late 1990s as a program of Stanford's Academic Department and was officially incorporated in 2002. The Academy for New Media was created at Stanford by Phil Gibson in 1999 for K-12 educators and high-school students interested in learning the latest digital media software tools from award-winning creative professionals.[2] Digital Media Academy was born in the Fall of 2001 after the Academy for New Media became closed due to budget cuts. Stanford University's Continuing Studies department offered CEU credits through Digital Media Academy from 2002-2014. In the Fall of 2017, the Company changed ownership, with Mr. Gibson exiting completely in 2018. Students may attend Digital Media Academy summer camps with the day camp or residential camp option or enroll in online courses. Summer camps offer fun and recreation while being known primarily as a tech camp.
Program offerings
Digital Media Academy designs, develops and delivers STEM curriculum for K-12 students and adults. With more than 500,000 students enrolled, 20,000 educators trained, 1,100 schools in 125 countries, Digital Media Academy delivers over 100 courses and has a 99.6% student satisfaction rate.
Digital Media Academy offers self-paced online courses, virtual tech camps, and in-person tech camps. It offers students from age 9 to 18 the opportunity to learn a variety of tech and new media skills in topics including Computer Science, Programming & Coding, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, App Development, Game Design & Development, Virtual Reality, Robotics, Filmmaking, Photography, Graphic Design, 3D Modeling, Animation, Music Production, Social Media Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and Wearable Tech. Their graduates work for Amazon, Google, Pixar, SAP, or NASA, etc.
For schools and educators, [3] offers whole-school solutions, curriculum licensing, professional development, mentoring, and support. DMA has been an Apple Inc. Authorized Training Center[4] and Adobe Systems Training Partner.[5] For youth, DMA offers summer computer camps, including sleep-away camps at top universities throughout the United States and Canada, including its flagship location at Stanford University[6]
Digital Media Academy’s whole-school solutions have been implemented to APG School - Bahrain, SRI KDU - Malaysia, Colegio Paraíso – Brazil, Swaffield School - UK. Their methods and results have been studied and endorsed by ISTE, Stanford Graduate School of Education, The University of Texas at Austin, and Microsoft.
Partnerships
Digital Media Academy by a grant from The Nudelman Family Trust offers a 1,000 full scholarship program[7] to make its courses accessible to underprivileged children and has partnered with various non-profit and community-focused organizations including the New Media Consortium[8] and the CUE.
