Dominic Lau

Dominic Lau Hoe Chai (born 18 September 1967) is a Malaysian politician who has served as Senator since November 2021 and President of the Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (GERAKAN), a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, since November 2018. He replaced Mah Siew Keong, who led the party to huge defeat in the 2018 general election in November 2018, as party president. [1] He was appointed a Senator in November 2021.[2]

Career

Dominic was a former lecturer at University of Technology Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur before getting involved in politics.

Elections

Dominic contested in the Batu district, Kuala Lumpur in the general elections in 2013 and the general elections in 2018 where he lost to Tian Chua in GE13 and to independent candidate, P. Prabakaran who later joined People's Justice Party in GE14 and caused the People's Movement Party the absence of the winning candidate in the GE14.[3]

Supporting Muhyiddin as Prime Minister

Dominic has expressed his party's support for Muhyiddin Yassin, the 8th Prime Minister who has failed to tackled the COVID-19 epidemic with unorganized and uncentralized planning to facilitate the affairs of the people. The support is for the sake of the people to maintain political and administrative stability of the country.[4]
