Release history and live performance
The song was written by Francis Rossi and Bob Young, in the soon-to-be trademark shuffle style the group would become famous for. The lyrics reverse gender stereotypes: the guy complains about a girl who's just out for a good time and a few laughs, not being serious about a relationship and messing around.
The song became a live favourite, and frequently got audiences bouncing around at gigs.[2][3] As of 2021, it was included on thirteen (13) compilation albums, including XS All Areas – The Greatest Hits and Accept No Substitute! The Definitive Hits,[1] and was one of the three songs the band played when opening Live Aid on 13 July 1985 at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
