The Brazilian Rules of Life
Lessons learnt after learning a new language, leaving school, living in Brazil for 3 years, starting with no friends, family or close connections (1968 – 1971)
- IF YOU DON’T ASK YOU DON’T GET.
- BE GOOD, DO GOOD, THINK GOOD, TRY HARD.
- BE COMPLETELY HONEST TO YOUR SET OF VALUES.
- YOUR MAIN PURPOSE IN LIFE IS TO GIVE TO FUTURE GENERATIONS OF INHERITORS OF THE EARTH.
- EVERY NIGHT BEFORE YOU GO TO SLEEP IF YOU STILL HAVE YOUR TOES, YOUR EYES, THE ABILITY TO HEAR AND TASTE, AND YOU’RE GENERALLY IN ONE PIECE (AND THOSE AROUND YOU TOO) – BE THANKFUL.
- NEVER EXPECT ANYTHING BACK FROM ANYONE EVER.
- YOU NEVER KNOW IF A VOLCANO IS GOING TO EXPLODE AND GIVE THE WORLD A 5,000 YEAR NIGHT – SO LIVE EVERY DAY AS IF IT IS YOUR LAST.
