Edward Wray (businessman)

Edward Wray is a British businessman and founder of Betfair.

Wray set up Betfair with co-founder Andrew Black in 1999. Prior to this he spent 8 years at J.P. Morgan, as vice president at the debt capital markets and derivatives area.[1] Wray has twice been named Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year. He resigned as Chairman of Betfair in 2012, and since then has been a director at Funding Circle, LMAX Limited, Property Partner, and Prodigy Finance. He is a trustee of Nesta.[2] In 2020 he stepped down from Funding Circle's board.[3]

In 2011, Wray donated £59,000 to the Conservative Party[4] and he has been named as a member of the Leader's Group, an elite dining club of wealthy donors who gain access to top Conservative Party politicians.[5]
