Evelyn Padin

Evelyn Padin is an American lawyer from New Jersey who is a nominee to serve as a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Education

Padin received her Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University in 1983, her Master of Social Work from Fordham University in 1985, and her Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University in 1992.[1]

Padin started her career as an associate at Linares & Coviello from 1992 to 1994. Between college and law school, from 1985 until 1989, Ms. Padin worked as a social worker in New York and New Jersey. Padin is a former Jersey City Municipal Court Judge.[2] In 1995 she founded her own practice and is the senior managing partner of the Law Offices of Evelyn Padin.[1]

Nomination to district court

On November 3, 2021, President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate Padin to serve as a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.[1] President Biden will nominate Padin to the seat vacated by Judge Faith S. Hochberg, who took senior status on March 6, 2015. If confirmed, Padin would be the second Latina federal judge for the District of New Jersey.[3]

Memberships

Padin also served as the President of the New Jersey State Bar Association from 2019 to 2020. She also previously served as a trustee to the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey and on the Board of Governors for the New Jersey Association for Justice.[1]
