Plot
An elderly couple Madhukar "Bhai" Sabnis (Dilip Prabhavalkar) and Malati Sabnis (Vandana Gupte) based in Pune is planning to celebrate its 50th wedding anniversary at its house by throwing a small party over there to organise a get-together which is compulsory for all of their family members. This is its yet another effort of getting their 4 children and grandchildren together. Their children and grandchildren are located in different cities and have lost contact overtime due to unresolved issues from the past. Meanwhile, Bhai and Malati are shown carrying away daily household chores while anticipating and getting things ready for their occasion. There is also a light humour arising out of their arguments over small issues in their day-to-day life. All of their family members also start getting introduced: Bhai's 1st son Nishikant Sabnis (Kiran Karmarkar) living with his wife Sujata Sabnis (Prateeksha Lonkar) and son Siddharth Sabnis (Alok Rajwade) who has just returned home from America, his 2nd son Deepak Sabnis (Sachin Deshpande) living with his wife Veena Sabnis (Sulekha Talwalkar) and daughter Tanvi Sabnis (Gauri Nalawade) who is a Marathi actress working in a TV serial, his 3rd unmarried son Viju Sabnis (Sanjay Khapre), and his 4th daughter Manju (Sai Tamhankar) who had escaped from her house and had got married to Akhilesh (Aadesh Shrivastava), a man of a different caste and a different age against his wishes 6 years ago as this occasion is a chance for him for forgive them and accept them. After 2 days in the film, the day of Bhai and Malati's 50th wedding anniversary approaches when they are shown sharing a private moment and remembering all the good memories of their past years in the early morning hours. Meanwhile, Siddharth and Tanvi create a WhatsApp group named "Family Katta" to make the family members meet each other on the way and go to their destination together against both of their parents' wishes.
The film takes a shocking and tragedic turn in its second half with the sudden unknowing "death" of Bhai in his room due to a fatal heart attack, just before the arrival of all of the family members at home. Malati is badly shocked on discovering this but she decides not to reveal this to the family as she does not want the efforts put by her and Bhai to bring it together go in vain. After the children and grandchildren's arrival, she pretends that he is resting in his room. Manju goes in Bhai's room along with Akhilesh to confront him over his opposition for their marriage and they discover the truth but they decide not to reveal this to anyone. The family members start sharing some light moments and cracking some jokes as they are unaware of the situation. Malati is later shown covering Bhai's dead body and bringing it outside in his old wheelchair and lying to everyone that he is ill. The day goes ahead with Malati playing a recording of the timeline of the Sabnis family narrated by Bhai. In 2 scenes, Malati is also shown imagining an alive Bhai talking to her and the family members at home. Siddharth and Tanvi then buy an anniversary cake for Bhai and Malati while the children start arguing with each other at home due to still unresolved issues from the past. Malati overhears this and unable to control her anger, she reveals Bhai's death to the children and grandchildren in an outburst which leaves him shocked. The children then feel guilty for their acts with Bhai and they apologise to Malati saying that they will never leave each other alone. The film ends with Siddharth saying on the Family Katta WhatsApp group that Bhai's actual death (discovered) occurred only after he met all of his family members and celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary along with them.
