Fijian Australians
Fijian Australians refers to Australian citizens or residents of Australia who are of ethnic iTaukei, Indian or Rotuman descent. Most Fijians Australians live in New South Wales (Sydney), Queensland (Brisbane) and Victoria (Melbourne).[2]

Australia is home to the largest Fijian population in the world outside Fiji itself.
According to the 2011 Australian census 48,141 Australians were born in Fiji.[3]
Many Fijian Australians have established names for themselves in professional Australian sport, particularly in rugby union, rugby league and Australian rules football.
Languages
In 2016, the top three most common home languages spoken by Australians born in Fiji were Hindi (33,411), English (14,717) and Fijian (6,548); and less than 3.7% reported speaking English "not well or at all".[4]
In 2011, the top five most common home languages spoken by people nominating "Fijian" in New South Wales were English (47.2%), Hindi (25.1%), Fijian (19.9%), Fiji Hindi (2.0%) and Rotuman (0.8%).[5]
In 2011, the top five most spoken languages by people in New South Wales nominating "Indo-Fijian" ancestry were Hindi (58.7%), English (30.1%), Fiji Hindi (2.5%), Urdu (1.1%) and Fijian (0.7%).[lower-alpha 1][6]
In 2016, over 50% of Fijian-born people living in Victoria spoke Hindi as their home language.[7]
The Sydney Rotuman Language School Inc. is a community language school run by the Australian Catholic University in Strathfield that offers Rotuman language classes.[8]
