Fishes of the Orinoco in the Wild

Fishes of the Orinoco in the Wild is a book written by photographer, artist and aquatic explorer Ivan Mikolji from Caracas, Venezuela. about aquatic fishes found in the Venezuelan and Colombian Amazon rainforest.[1][2] In the book, Mikolji documents the underwater fishes in the Orinoco River catchment.[3] The book was designed by Joshua Pickett, author of The Bichir Handbook.[4]

The book features over 150 species[5] of freshwater fish. The work encompasses the fishes of the Orinoquia[6] in Venezuela and Colombia, in the Lost World, the Amazonas inselbergs and other areas in the tropical rainforests of the Guiana Shield.[7]

The author describes the original behavior of the fish species when they are in their natural habitats and information of their localities, water temperature, pH and other fish and plant species that share their biotopes.[8] The book details what their scientific names mean or stand for, observations of the fish behavior in the wild, and underwater photography tips.[9][10]
