Folk Radio UK

Folk Radio UK, is an independent online UK-based folk music and Culture Journal founded in 2004 by Alex Gallacher.[1] They are based in Somerset,[2][1] and supported by a team of reviewers from within and outside of the UK. They cover a broad range of folk and roots music from across the globe including Indie folk, British folk music, English folk music, Irish traditional music, Celtic music and contemporary folk."[3] Broader Arts and Culture subjects are also covered including literature, folklore, customs and more.

The website features Album Reviews, News, Live Reviews, Interviews, Video and Audio Premieres, as well as a regular Folk Show.[4]

It launched a specialist folk music channel on Deezer in 2012.[5][6] Folk Radio UK reached the finals of the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2014 in the media category.[7] In July 2017[8] it launched a dedicated weekly folk show on British online music streaming service Mixcloud. It has also curated playlists on Spotify which are updated regularly to tie in with their online coverage of new music releases.
