Fosco Dubini

Fosco Dubini (born 1 July 1954 in Zurich) is a Swiss director and documentary filmmaker. He directs his films in close collaboration with his brother Donatello Dubini.[1]

Biography

Dubini studied film studies at the University of Cologne from 1975 to 1981 and wrote his master's thesis on The Development of Swiss Documentary Film.[2][3][4]

He made his first documentary film, Gösgen (a film about the Gösgen nuclear power plant) together with his brother in 1978. This was followed by documentaries about the missing Italian physicist Ettore Majorana, the nuclear spy Klaus Fuchs and the Bavarian fairytale king Ludwig II. With later works, the Dubini brothers turned increasingly towards cinema and art themes, making documentaries about the actress Jean Seberg, the writer Thomas Pynchon and the actress Hedy Lamarr.[1][4]

In 2001, both filmed the travel diary of Annemarie Schwarzenbach under the title The Journey to Kafiristan.[1]

Dubini is a member of the Filmkollektiv Zürich and the Kölner Filmhaus. Since 1991, he has taught at the École supérieure d'art visuel in Geneva.[2][3]
