Frontier (supercomputer)

Frontier or OLCF-5 is an exascale supercomputer being planned for delivery in 2021 at the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility. It will be the United States' first exascale computer with a target computation performance of ~1.5 exaFLOPS.[2][3][4] It is being built at a cost of US$600 million.

It is expected to use a combination of AMD Epyc CPUs and Radeon Instinct GPUs, consume 30 MW, and occupy 100 19-inch (48 cm) rack cabinets.[5][6][7]

Frontier will have coherent interconnects between CPUs and GPUs, allowing GPU memory to be accessed coherently by code running on the Epyc CPUs.[8]
