Fruits of Labor
Fruits of Labor is a 2021 Mexican-American documentary film written and directed by Emily Cohen. The film premiered at South by Southwest and following it was screened at the Independent Film Festival Boston.[1] The film is based on the director's short film of the same name.[2]

Plot
The film focuses on a single day of a life of a young farmer and factory worker from Mexico who resides in California where she dreams to graduate from high school and start to attend college.
Production and release
Fruits of Labor was a sponsored project of the International Documentary Association.[3]
Following its premiere at South by Southwest, POV had acquired the rights for the film.[4]
Reception
On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes the film has a score of 100% based on reviews from 8 critics, with an average rating of 7/10.[5]
Dennis Harvey of Variety wrote "Emily Cohen Ibanez's documentary is an intriguing look at the heavily responsibilities borne by an undocumented immigrant's teen daughter".[6]
