Fukabuchi-no-Mizuyarehana

Fukafuchi no mizu yare hana no kami (深淵之水夜礼花神) is a God from Japanese mythology.

Summary

He is a deity who appears only in Kojiki, with no particular record other than his name and genealogy. He is one of the seventeen deities of the Toomari Nanayo no Kami.

The name is thought to be a deity associated with water, based on the letters and the connection with his relatives Kuraokami, Hikawa Hime, and Otomidunyu, but the details are still unknown.[1]

"The word "abyss" means a place where the water is stagnant and forms a deep abyss,[2] and "yare" is the passive form of the lower two conjugations of the four-step "yeru" conjugation. There is also a theory that "abyss" and "water" are improvised associations from the gods Shigakami and Higahime, and "flower" from Kibachiryu-hime, without any deeper meaning.[3]

This deity was born when Nunohomo Oso Kunasunako married Hikawa Hime, who in turn married Amano Tsuzuki Chidori and gave birth to Onomizunako.
