Gabriel Akhmad Marin

Gabriel Akhmad Marin (Džibril Akhmad Nur Marin) is a multi-instrumentalist from New York City best known as a founding member of fusion band Consider The Source. He is known for his work with both fretless guitar and MIDI guitar synthesizer,[1] and has been described as a "virtuoso whose microtonal adventures rival those of many eastern musicians".[2] Marin uses the fretless guitar to emulate a voice, with his playing often heard as wordless vocals, and uses the MIDI guitar to emulate saxophone, trombone, vibraphone, mellotron, and various keyboard synths.

As a performer, Marin is noted for usage of extended technique, bringing elements of free jazz into "freaky-fast" playing.[3] As a composer his style is noted for having strong melodic content while infusing elements of grunge songwriting fused with western classical music, as well as complex use of effect pedals.[4]
