GCET was established in 2005 and is sponsored by Teja Educational Society.

Campus
The GCET campus is located in Cheeryal village in the Keesara Mandal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district of Telangana, India. The college is about 10 km from ECIL.

Geethanjali offers 9 engineering degree programs in the following branches with the approval of the Government of India, Government of Telangana and is affiliation with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. Geethanjali college has become the youngest (10 years) JNTU Hyderabad "autonomous" state.

Admissions
Students are admitted into the nine branches of Engineering under the following categories.

The Government of Telangana allows admission of diploma holders into the second year under the "Lateral entry scheme" to the extent of 10% of the intake to each of the branches on a supernumerary basis.

Student activities
- CSI, IETE and IEEE chapters function in the institution.
- Geethanjali Students Electric Bike: The second and third year Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering have designed an indigenous electric bike using Siemens Nx CAD as part of Society of Automotive Engineering - Southern Section(SAE) India Collegiate Club activities.
- T. Rikshith, Anisha Dhananjay Shendkar, Sai Abhishek, B. Shreya Sree, Sohan Kotha C. Surya Venkat participated in Smart India Hackathon at SV Engineering College from 2nd March 2019 to 3rd March 2019 with the problem statement GS03 whose title is Intrusion Detection and Reverse Signaling Drone which was selected from 21 teams in our problem statement.
- M. Srilekha, Ruchiswa, Ramya, Spandana presented indigenous Project on Water volume and pipe leakage indicator by using IOT in Tech Expo organized by J-Hub, JNTUH Hyderabad on 23-03-019.
- Aakash K, Krithika, Vagdevi, Srivani presented a project on Stick for Blind in Tech Expo organized by J-Hub, JNTUH Hyderabad on 23-03-019.
- K. Nikhil Ajay Raghava, Priyanka Dhote, K. Ashika Chakravarthy, M. Vishvanath completed (two) 2 week Summer internship through Internshala on Android Application from IIT Bombay. The training was given at their Bangalore center from 05-06-2019 to 20-06-2019.
- Mr. Madhu of CSE received appointment through FOODPANDA- US Based company as a digital marketing intern. He attended a meeting in Mumbai. He is invited to Dubai for an international summit in Feb/March 2019. The expenditure of the trip is sponsored by the company. He is offered a full time job after graduation on site i.e. USA.
- Mr. T.Raj Kumar of completed two courses from NPTEL in Introduction to C Programming and Programming Data Structures and Algorithms using Python.
- A national-level technical paper and project presentation congress "BHASWARA" has been organized every academic year from its year of inception to invite participants all over the country and give GCET students a platform to showcase their talent on.
- A very effective NSS unit is functional in the college organizing blood donation camps, free eye check-up camps, and collection of relief for the recent flood victims.
- As part of the entrepreneur development cell, activities like presentations from bank officials, interaction with real-time entrepreneurs and a one-day workshop on entrepreneurship were conducted.
- VIBES: Annual Day celebrations are conducted every academic year with the official ceremony where the principal of the college presents the annual report of the institution's progress and The Hon’ble secretary presents the future activities of the college with the award ceremony as the finale of an official function. The awards are given away for excellence in sports and extracurricular activities
- An inter-collegiate cultural fest named VIBGYOR is conducted every year. The participants and the judges lauded the effort and impressed upon the need to have many more such events to create an opportunity for the students.
- Department of PhotographY is the Photography Club initiated by Rana Pratap Chowdary - alumnilite of Geethanjali College
Pharmacy
Geethanjali College of Pharmacy is on the campus premises. It offers B.Pharmacy(2007), M.Pharmacy(2011) and Pharm D (2013). There are placements available for Pharmacy graduating students abundantly. Students are selected based on EAMCET ranks.
