Gilles Martin (basketball)

Gilles Martin (born November 12, 1989) is a Swiss basketball player who is ranked world No. 29 in men's individual 3x3 rankings by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).[1] He plays the Point guard.[2]

Before he joined Vevey Riviera Basket, he played for BBC Monthey-Chablais, and BBC Lausanne.

Biography

Gilles Martin was born on 12 November 1989 at Vaud, Switzerland. He started his career as a professional basketball player in 2007. He first played with BBC Lausanne in the Swiss Basketball League. After three seasons, playing a total of 25 games, Martin joined Vevey Riviera Basket and has represented the team at over 100 SBL games till now. During the 2017-18 season, Martin represented BBC Monthey-Chablais for 25 games. After that season, Gilles Martin joined the Riviera Lakers in the Swiss Basketball League and they finished in the Top 4 during the playoffs.[3]

Martin averaged 5.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists in the Switzerland - LNA Basketball 2019-20.

In addition to basketball 5 on 5, Gilles Martin is a 3x3 player and he has played in the FIBA 3x3[4] World Tour since 2017 for Team Lausanne. From 2017 to 2018, the team was called Team Lausanne 3x3.[5][6] From 2021, the team has signed a partnership with Lausanne-Sport, the #1 football team in Lausanne, who plays in the Super League. So now, the basketball 3x3 team is affiliated with Lausanne-Sport and is called Lausanne-Sport 3x3.[7]
