Gudaf Tsegay

Gudaf Tsegay Desta (born 23 January 1997) is an Ethiopian middle-distance runner competing primarily in the 1500 metres but also 5000 and 10000 metres.[1][2] She represented her country at the 2014 and 2016 World Indoor Championships winning the bronze on the second occasion. She also won bronze medals at the 2019 World Championships in the 1500 metres event and at the 2020 Summer Olympics over the 5000 metres. In February 2021, Tsegay broke the women’s 1,500 metres indoor world record at a meeting in Liévin, France.[3] The former world record with 3:55.17 set by Genzebe Dibaba in 2014 was lowered by Tsegay to 3:53.09.[4]
