Ha (Korean surname)

Ha is a Latin alphabet rendition of the Korean family name "하", also often spelled Hah or Har. As of the South Korean census of 2000, there were 213,758 people by this name in South Korea, or roughly 0.5% of the population.[1]

Ha is ranked 35th in the population of South Korean surnames, with 230,481 people in the 2015 National Statistical Office Census. There are main clans such as Jinju(晉州), Ganghwa(江華), and Aneum(安陰).

Jinju Clan

Jinju clan (晉州河氏) is Shiranggongpa (侍郞公波) with Hagongjin as its ancestor, Sajikgongpa (司直公波) and Haseong (河成) as the ancestors of Hajin. There is a step gongpa (丹溪公波) that is the founder of.

Ganghwa Clan

Ha Il-cheong, the founder of Ganghwa clan, was the son of Chambong Ha Se-ryeon, and served as a governor in 1570. The population in 2000 was 913.

Aneum Clan

The founder of Aneum Clan, Ha Cheon-jo, passed the examination in 1212 and served as Pan-Wiwisisa(as a Wiwi's Chief Executive Officer.) The population in 2000 was 171.
