Early life and education

Pudwill grew up in Hanover, Germany.[2]

He earned a Master of Science in Engineering from Technical College in Flensburg.[1]

Career

Pudwill was initially an engineer at Volkswagen in Germany. In 1971, he moved to Hong Kong with his wife to head up the local Volkswagen branch as manager of services and sales.[1][2][3]

He cofounded Techtronic Industries, a Hong Kong-based manufacturer of power tools and floor-care products, in 1985 with business partner Roy Chung Chi-ping.[1]

Today, the company is one of the world's largest suppliers of cordless power tools and floor care appliances. It employs over 48,000 people worldwide.[4]

Pudwill retired as CEO of Techtronic in 2008 but remains chairman of the company. He continues to oversee Techtronic's operations with his only child, Stephan, the firm's vice chairman, and its chief executive Joseph Galli.[2][1]

According to Forbes in 2021, his net worth is estimated at $6.5 billion dollars.[1]
