Isabel Montoya
Isabel M. Montoya Atencio (1899–1996)[1] was a Pueblo-American painter and potter from the San Ildefonso Pueblo.[2] She studied at the Santa Fe Indian School[3] and is known for her pencil and crayon sketches[2] and her role in the development of pottery in San Ildefonso.[4]

Montoya was the daughter of Nicolasa Peña and Juan Cruz Montoya. Her cousin was potter Maria Martinez.[1][5] Montoya married Benjamin Atencio circa 1925 and had five children, all of whom were painters or potters: Tony, Gilbert Benjamin, Pat, Helen Gutierrez and Angelita Sanchez.[1]
