Plot
Ishq Hai is the intense love story of Shahzaib Sadat (Danish Taimoor) and Isra Waqar (Minal Khan).
Shahzaib is a man of discipline, values and who takes his familial responsibilities very seriously. Filthy rich, incredibly handsome, immensely confident and undeniably magnetic and alluring, he is the man of every woman’s dreams. Shahzaib lives an extremely balanced life and has been the ideal son his whole life. However, the only time he has made a personal decision is by choosing the woman he would want to spend the rest of his life with.
Isra is a young, care-free girl who's innocent, bubbly and naïve. She is the youngest in her family which means she is the apple of everyone’s eye. Isra makes you want to protect her from the minute you lay your eyes on her, and that’s exactly what Shahzaib wishes to do. He wishes to give her the world and much more, be hers as much as she was his.
Shahzaib and Isra are crazy about each other, so much so that they cannot wait to start their lives together. Unfortunately, their families do not agree and forcefully betroth them to other people. While Isra tearfully agrees and gives in to make her family happy, Shahzaib cannot imagine parting from her. He tries to talk to Isra, his family and even Isra’s fianceé, Haaris, who starts showing signs of insanity right from the beginning.
Finally, when no one relents, Shahzaib, pushed into a corner, does the most insane thing ever. He kidnaps Isra on her wedding day and in a situation of frenzy, he places a gun on his head, threatening to commit suicide if Isra leaves the house he’s brought her to without marrying him. A horrified Isra, not knowing what else to do, gives in. A few hours later, Isra’s father, Waqar, passes away, unable to take the pain caused by his daughter’s betrayal.
Isra, now having been disowned by her family and living with the guilt of her father’s death, vows to never let Shahzaib be happy with her. She wants to make him feel pain, the same kind she felt when he imposed marriage on her, while Shahzaib finally feels the gravity of the situation, the severity of his actions. Knowing that Isra would never be happy with him, he choses to fix her relations with her family and give her the one thing she has asked for: a divorce.
Meanwhile, Isra’s brother Hammad has decided he would end his sister’s life, even going to the extent of beating up Shahzaib when he tries to make amends for his wife. Hammad’s wife, Naina, a textbook narcissist, blames Isra for everything going wrong in her life. Shahzaib’s brother, Razaa decides to force Shahzaib into divorcing Isra so that his selfish intentions of marrying Sameera can be fulfilled. Sameera’s sister, Nimra, also dreams of marrying Shahzaib, as promised to her by her Khala-Jaan a.k.a Shahzaib’s mother. And finally, Isra’s ex-fiancee, Haaris, proves his insanity by ridiculously obsessing over Isra, wanting to obtain her as if she was a shiny new toy, at any cost.
But as fate would have it, Shahzaib’s emotional turmoil causes him to have an accident. This proves to be a turning point, with Isra reminiscing their happy days and silently praying he gets better. Razaa, having seen the concern Isra had for Shahzaib, starts having a change of heart. He begins to respect her and treat her like his sister-in-law. Isra’s mother, having heard Shahzaib’s truthful confession at the hospital (when she was admitted), indirectly supports her daughter not to go through with the separation. Isra, who was in double-mind due to the turmoil and love she had started to feel for Shahzaib, rips the divorce papers, silently agreeing to remain married to him and move into his family home. An ecstatic Shahzaib brings his wife home, only to witness Nimra lose her mind once again.
Under tense circumstances, Razaa and Sameera finally get married and Shahzaib and Isra have their Walima with the couple. However, the scheming does not seem to end, this is only the beginning. Where Shahzaib and Isra are finally trying to put the past behind them and Shahzaib’s love has started to melt Isra’s frozen heart, Khala-Jaan continues to plot their separation along with Sameera and Nimra. In a twist of fate, Haaris now teams up with them, since the only thing he wants is Isra. Isra's mother falls sick one night when Hammad and Naina are out of town and Shahzaib rushes with Isra to the hospital. He also keeps Haaris away from her while they wait for Isra's mother to get better. Isra finally stands up for Shahzaib the next day when Hammad gets physically aggressive and pushes Shahzaib. That night the couple officially make amends and consummate their marriage, letting bygones be bygones.
Nafisa, Sameera, Nimra and Haaris take their planning a notch higher and cause a series of misunderstandings between Shahzaib and Isra. Both of them start doubting the other for being too lenient with their exes. However, a scheme carried out by Sameera makes Shahzaib think that Isra and Haaris were intentionally locked in a room together. A heartbroken Shahzaib refuses to listen to a helpless Isra's pleas and kicks her out of his house. A series of incidents in which Shahzaib spots Isra and Haaris together causes him to make the hasty decision of marrying Nimra, but without divorcing Isra.
Finally, Isra overhears the truth from Haaris when she visits his house after his mother's death. Isra slaps him and leaves angrily while Haaris gets into a car accident while driving aggressively. This accident makes him have a change of heart and he takes his friend's (whom he considers his sister) help to send a recorded video message to Shahzaib confessing about the plan. Hammad reaches the wedding venue, makes Shahzaib listen to Isra on the phone (who has no idea she is on speaker) and Shahzaib sees the video message. Both men rush to the hospital to see Haaris who reveals the other culprits in this scheme. Shahzaib disowns his family and moves out, giving all his property and assets to Razaa. Nimra commits suicide, pushing Sameera into severe guilt. Meanwhile Isra is seen living happily with her family now, taking care of Naina who is pregnant and deciding to pursue further studies.
Shahzaib tries for months to apologize to Isra but she ignores him. He reaches out to Hammad too, but the family lets Isra take her decision. Finally after Naina's delivery, Shahzaib arrives at Isra's face and talks to her. He painfully tells her that he cannot live without her and makes up his mind to end his life. This breaks Isra, who confronts him angrily first and then forgives him because she still loves him very much.
Two Years Later, Shahzaib and Isra are seen living happily and have had a baby boy. The Sadat Household is broken. Razaa is taking care of the business, trying to get Shahzaib home but he does not relent. Nafisa is in severe pain, having realised what she's done to her son and so is Sameera. Finally Shahzaib and Isra return to the house. Nafisa is elated on seeing her son and asks both of them for forgiveness. Shahzaib says that it is important that parents respect their children's choices while Isra tells her that they want their baby's "Dadi" to name him. The family is seen reuniting as Nafisa holds her grandson for the first time. [7]
