Itch (TV series)

Itch is an Australian children's action-adventure television series based on the award winning books by popular British broadcaster and author Simon Mayo.[1] Following the thrilling capers of science obsessed Itchingham Lofte and his friends, Itch was produced by Komixx Entertainment and filmed throughout Western Australia.   Season 1 was directed by Renee Webster and Nicholas Verso and premiered on ABC iView on 31 December 2019 and on ABC Me on 15 January 2020.  It has since been seen around the world being acquired by channels including CBBC in the UK, BYUtv in the US and in New Zealand on TVNZ.   The second season was directed by Nicholas Verso and Tenika Smith and premiered on ABC ME and ABC iview on 17 September 2021.[2]

The first series was shot in Albany and Perth, Western Australia between February and April 2019[3][4][5] and the second series was filmed in the Albany, Peel region and Perth, Western Australia between October and December 2020.[2]

Plot

Season 1 - After Itch obtains an unusual rock, he’s excited to discover it could be a powerful new element. But when a thief tries to snatch it and his home is robbed, Itch realises it might be putting him and his family in danger.

Season 2 - When a series of mysterious dead fish start washing up on the shore, Itch and his friends suspect Greencorp are to blame. After their concerns are dismissed, the group seek to uncover the truth, leading them to discover Greencorp’s plans to synthesize Element 126. With Seaburgh at risk of nuclear disaster, it’s up to Itch and his friends to stop Greencorp from carrying out their plan before it’s too late.[6]

The first series aired on TVNZ in New Zealand in February 2020, BYU TV in the United States in June 2020, CBBC Channel in the United Kingdom in November 2020,[3] in Finnish on Yle in Finland in September 2020[8] and in Catalan in Super3 in Spain in February 2021.[9]
