Jagannath Rao Chandriki

Jagannath Rao Chandriki was an Indian politician, Freedom fighter,[1] Member of Parliament and former minister of Hyderabad State, Mysore State.[2][3][4][5] [6] He was arrested in 1942 movement.

Early life and family

Jagannath Rao Chandriki was Born on 3 December 1926 in Chandriki Village in Gulbarga District of Hyderabad State, British India (in present-day Yadgir District of Karnataka State, India). Venkat Rao Chandriki was his father. He obtained his B.A., LL.B. (master's and law degrees) from Nagpur University and Osmania University, Hyderabad. He was an Advocate by profession.

Personal life

Jagannath Rao Chandriki was married to Shrimati Vimalabai in 1938. The couple had four children which includes one son, and three daughters.

Political career

Jagannath Rao Chandriki was Minister for Law and Endowment in the Hyderabad State in 1952.[7] [8] Mr Chandriki was also Minister for Excise, Labour and Small Scale Industries in the new Mysore State in 1956.[9]

Jagannath Rao Chandriki won 3rd Lok Sabha Election in 1962 from Raichur Lok Sabha constituency by getting 95,424 Votes and defeated Kumar Naik Venkatappa Naik who got 80,099 Votes.

In 1963 Jagannath Rao Chandriki became General Secretary of All India Congress Committee and He was Member of Working Committee in Hyderabad Karnatak Parishad[10]

In the Yadgir session of the Parishat, presided over by Hanumantha Rao Kakkeri, Jagannatha Rao Chandriki, President of the first session of the parishat at Hyderabad, took an active part as the Chairman of the Reception Committee.[11]
