Jamuna Bank

Jamuna Bank Limited is a commercial bank in Bangladesh registered under the Companies Act 1994. It was established on June 3, 2001. Jamuna Bank had 149 branches as of February 2021 .[3] Its head office is located at Jamuna Bank Tower,Plot# 14, Bir Uttam A. K. Khandaker Road, Block# C, Gulshan-1,Dhaka, Bangladesh.Jamuna Bank Ltd,a third generation private commercial bank, was established by a group of local entrepreneurs. The bank, aside from conventional, also provides Islamic banking through designated branches. The Bank has real-time online banking branches (of both urban and rural areas) network to provide online banking.

Jamuna Bank has 21 Authorized Dealer branches to process the import and export transactions. Besides,The bank has 2 Trade Finance Processing Centers (TFPCs) at Dhaka and Chattogram .TFPC is the service center of the Non-AD Branches of the bank for trade services, i.e. import, export, guarantee, inward remittance, outward remittance.The bank has one Offshore Banking Unit.

In 2020 Jamuna Bank has turned into a full-fledged Shariah-based Islami bank.[4]

Controversy

Bangladesh Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed cases against Mohammad Yusuf Hossain( Managing Director of Raihan Packaging Industries Limited), Md Belal Hossain (Jamuna Bank Shantinagar branch former Executive Vice President and current Principal at Jamuna Bank Training Institute), AKM Shah Alam (Assistant Vice President) and Biplab Kumar Chakrabarty (former first Assistant Vice President and currently Assistant Vice President at Jamuna Bank head office). They were charged with embezzling money worth Tk 80 million.[5]
